2018.07.26. Focusing on the bigger picture

(Right now: Babysitting)

When faced with trying situations in life, it is human nature to feel scared, disheartened, or even downright angry.

But if we let these feelings linger, we are missing out on the bigger picture. While it is perfectly fine to experience an initial negative reaction to these events, making these feelings dominate over us for extended periods of time may only cause us more harm.

A blurry view results from the wrong focus.

It is always important to have a balanced perspective; things don't always go our way, and bad things do happen to everyone. Even if bad things seem to always happen, it doesn't mean that they will stay on forever.

In fact, the sooner we get to a proper perspective, the sooner we can get back on track. We may not have a hand on the occurrence of depressing events, but we can always control our reaction to these things.

We need to focus on the bigger picture. On the things we are trying to do, the conditions we want to reach, the goals we want to achieve in the first place.

Life waits for no one. If we linger on the negativity, we lose precious time and energy that could have taken us closer to our dreams. ■
